Industrial & Systems Engineering, B.S.
Our students improve systems across all industries, including defense, aviation, manufacturing and health care. We ensure these systems operate at top efficiency and safety. We combine broad engineering skills with behavioral science to graduate students ready to tackle even the most complex system challenges.
In our program, personalized counseling and informal relationships are commonplace between students and professors. Classes are typically small, averaging 15 students, allowing for a close interaction between students and professors. Our graduates, put simply, make things better whether its reducing wait times at amusement parks, building a superior car, ensuring the mail arrives on time or the operating room procedures are streamlined.
Mechanical Engineering, B.S.
We create the products that you use every day. Our work enhances cars, energy systems, medical devices, nuclear power and other equipment upon which our society depends. Our labs develop blast-resistant materials, innovative medical diagnostic tools and new alloy materials.

Accelerated 5-Year B.S./M.S. Program
B.S. Mechanical Engineering + M.S. Mechanical Engineering. This program is designed to allow students to complete both the B.S. and M.S. degrees within 5 years. During the spring of the junior year, students with a minimum 3.0 GPA are eligible to apply for admission to the graduate program. Additional Information and Curriculum
B.S. Mechanical Engineering + M.S. Systems Engineering. Many students choose to combine an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering with a master’s degree in systems engineering. B.S. Industrial Engineering + M.S. Systems Engineering. The program emphasizes service and enterprise systems and manufacturing systems. It provides students with an understanding of advanced systems and the criteria that can influence them. Armed with this knowledge, students will be in a pre-eminent position to contribute to virtually any company. The MS program takes a multidisciplinary approach to Systems Engineering. The program consists of core courses in Systems Engineering, together with electives in three main areas: 1. Service and enterprise systems 2. Manufacturing systems amd 3. B.S. Industrial Engineering + Master’s of Business Administration. Industrial Engineering students have the unique opportunity to participate in a program which allows them to complement their engineering degree with the business skills needed in the workplace. Minor in Nuclear Engineering
One of few such programs in the country, the nuclear engineering minor provides students the fundamental knowledge of nuclear power engineering. Students can leverage the knowledge to pursue employment in fields associated with the construction, operation, or regulation of nuclear power generation or continue to a graduate nuclear engineering program. Minor in Engineering Entrepreneurship
The Minor in Engineering Entrepreneurship blends technology and business to provide engineering undergraduates with the skills needed to become entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders in both startups and established companies. International Engineering Program
The International Engineering Program combines a B.S. degree in any of the college’s engineering disciplines with a B.A. degree in a foreign language (German, Spanish, French, Italian or Chinese). The five-year program includes a year studying abroad. The first semester abroad is spent at the IEP’s partner university taking engineering, language, and culture courses in the host language. This is followed by a six-month paid internship with an international engineering firm in the same country.
