Our biomedical engineers apply engineering methods and principles, adapting technology to solve problems in the life sciences and medicine in order to improve and save lives. Our students learn how to design and develop medical equipment and instrumentation for the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases and health problems as well as for use in biological research.
Computer Engineering, B.S.
Our students learn to develop computer systems that drive the modern world. We develop better ways to route Internet traffic, improve data security and integrity, provide clear cell phone reception and even predict the weather. Our students learn to combine hardware concepts from electrical engineering with software concepts from computer science to design these systems and others.
Electrical Engineering, B.S.
Electrical engineering lies at the heart of modern science. Our students develop the circuits that form the basis of computer and communication systems and provide the controls for large-scale systems. Our students are introduced to a wide range of applications from electronics and device fabrication, to computers, to control and communication, to electromagnetics and optics.
Students may earn a bachelor’s and master’s in any of our disciplines in five years through our accelerated program. To qualify, biomedical, computer, and electrical engineering students must earn a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher while pursuing their B.S. degree. To ease the course load at the graduate level, students are encouraged to earn some graduate credits (e.g. one or two courses not required for their B.S. degree) during their senior year. International Engineering Program
The International Engineering Program combines a B.S. degree in any of the college’s engineering disciplines with a B.A. degree in a foreign language (German, Spanish, French, Italian or Chinese). The five-year program includes a year studying abroad. The first semester abroad is spent at the IEP’s partner university taking engineering, language, and culture courses in the host language. This is followed by a six-month paid internship with an international engineering firm in the same country.
